HD Hyundai Construction Equipment is investing in an updated regional management framework, new uptime and machine customization centers, and the establishment of a dedicated product demonstration space, as part of a comprehensive reorganization of its European business.
This framework will enhance the company’s proximity to the market, streamline the procurement process for new machinery, minimize lead times, and provide a broader array of customized solutions for customers.
They will guarantee optimal availability of authentic spare parts and enhance the company’s preeminent service and support capabilities.
As part of the Growing Closer Together initiative, the manufacturer is establishing a matrix organizational structure within its sales and aftermarket operations to enhance collaboration with its dealers and customers in each region and to better address specific regional market demands.
HD Hyundai will implement a more collaborative strategy in the markets by utilizing cross-functional, cross-business area teams.
The new regional matrix will establish five geographical sales and support regions.
DACH (Deutschland, Österreich und Schweiz)
France and Benelux; United Kingdom and Ireland
Italy and Southern Europe; Eastern and Northern Europe
“This new structure will significantly improve our connections with the market, dealers, and customers, facilitating quicker decision-making through a better comprehension of the specific market conditions,” states Dr. Hubertus Muenster, director of sales and marketing at HD Hyundai Construction Equipment Europe.“It will offer us enhanced flexibility and accountability, delivering improved communication and support to our customers.”
HD Hyundai is expanding its EU-CUP machine customization center in Antwerp, Belgium, capitalizing on its previous success. Historically, individual excavators and wheel loaders have been transported to the center from South Korea, with specialized booms and arms delivered separately. The customization center subsequently added the booms and attachments; however, the machine remained a standard unit with limited adaptability.
Under the revised procedure, HD Hyundai will import standard machinery devoid of booms and arms. The front-end attachments will be dispatched individually according to market data. Dealers will put orders for certain models, allowing the customization center to combine excavator and loader chassis with booms, arms, and other components to fulfill customer requests. This will significantly reduce lead times, enabling dealers to more effectively satisfy client demand, including for less common combinations.
The site will persist in providing clients and dealers with a personalization facility, featuring paint booths and workshops that may customize the machine to the customer’s precise specifications. This may encompass several choices, both within the HD Hyundai product range and from external vendors, including the preparation and installation of machine guidance and control systems.
The facility is deploying a Material Requirement Planning system to predict the demand for modification parts based on sales predictions and assembly schedules. By preemptively securing parts supply, the organization may mitigate the risk of delays and enhance customer satisfaction.
A European Uptime Centre is being constructed at HD Hyundai’s headquarters in Tessenderlo, Belgium, to optimize the extensive operational data already gathered by its Hi-Mate telematic monitoring system. With access to real-time operational data from nearly every machine across Europe, HD Hyundai will proactively reach out to consumers when maintenance or repairs are necessary. The company will monitor ongoing machine maintenance, guarantee component availability, and furnish monthly machine health reports to customers with service agreements.
“The new HD Hyundai Uptime Centre will oversee, gather, and evaluate real-time data from the HD Hyundai Construction Equipment fleet through sophisticated telematics systems,” states Edsel Trindade, manager of uptime and product support. This data-driven methodology will facilitate the anticipatory detection of probable equipment malfunctions prior to their escalation, hence permitting prompt maintenance and repairs. Utilizing telematics, HD Hyundai Construction Equipment is equipped to offer clients extensive insights into machine health, fuel consumption, usage trends, and additional metrics.
The HD Hyundai Uptime Centre will utilize telematics to monitor equipment locations, utilization rates, and fuel efficiency, enabling clients to optimize operations and reduce the likelihood of machine downtime.
Finally, HD Hyundai is developing a specialized demonstration space at its European headquarters in Tessenderlo, Belgium. The demonstration area will showcase the company’s fast expanding equipment line and will be accessible for dealer and customer visits, media events, corporate training, and product launches. Grandstand seating will offer a comprehensive view of the 3,300m2 operational site, where operators may familiarize themselves with the latest equipment from HD Hyundai.
“We have meticulously analyzed all facets of our European operations to identify methods for enhancing collaboration with our dealers and improving customer service,” states Dr. Muenster.“Our emphasis has consistently been on the customer experience, encompassing the initial machine order, equipment customization, operation, and fleet management.” Our objective is to optimize uptime for our clients, guaranteeing the most return on their investment.
