Sandvik has been chosen by Barminco, a division of the Perenti Group, to provide a fleet of 23 underground trucks, loaders, and drills for the Western Australian Bellevue gold project.
Seven Toro® TH663i trucks, six Toro LH517i loaders, five Sandvik DL432i longhole drills, and five Sandvik DD422i development drills are included in the order, which was placed in the June quarter of 2026. Sandvik’s dual controls package, which includes split feeds and dual drilling controls for multi-task drilling activities like boring, bolting, and meshing, will be used in the development drills. Rock tools, parts, and services are also included in the agreement.
“Our collaboration with Sandvik continues to evolve alongside the growing demands of modern underground mining,” stated Mick Radi, Vice President Operations Australia at Barminco. As more mining regions are accessible, Bellevue’s new fleet investment will facilitate faster underground development, better material movement, and greater flexibility. It puts us in a good position to support our customers’ long-term sustainable production expansion while delivering outstanding operational performance.
One of Australia’s highest-grade gold mines, Bellevue Gold, gave Barminco a four-year contract at its namesake facility. Barminco will supply all underground mining services to support the continued production and development activities at Bellevue, which is around 400 kilometers northwest of Kalgoorlie, starting in August 2026.
Bellevue started producing gold commercially in 2024, and as of right now, it is aiming to produce between 130,000 and 150,000 ounces of gold in the fiscal year 2026. As the world’s first net-zero (Scope 1 and Scope 2) gold mine in 2025, Bellevue claims to have established itself as a pioneer in sustainable mining innovation. About 90% of its electricity needs are met by renewable energy infrastructure after four wind turbines and a solar farm were put into service.
According to Sandvik, the Toro TH663i and Toro LH517i are designed for the most demanding subterranean loading and hauling tasks. High payloads and reduced operating costs per tonne are made possible by their better maintainability, automation readiness, real-time analytics, and enhanced connectivity.
For underground drilling, the Sandvik DL432i and Sandvik DD422i offer a potent blend of efficiency, accuracy, and operator safety. According to the OEM, both rigs are built with innovative digital drilling controls, ergonomic operator environments, and dependable performance in challenging underground circumstances to enhance drilling accuracy, maximize equipment utilization, and support safer working environments. When combined, they provide more consistent drilling results and lessen operational variability.
“We are pleased to further strengthen our longstanding partnership with Barminco by supplying a new fleet of our intelligent equipment to support the Bellevue Gold Project’s ramp up,” stated Mats Eriksson, President of Mining at Sandvik. Barminco’s ongoing faith in our technology and our mutual dedication to more secure, efficient, and sustainable underground mining are reflected in this order. It demonstrates the benefits that our sophisticated machinery and digital mining solutions can offer to intricate Australian gold mining operations.
