In order to advance its Mandilla Gold Project in Western Australia, Astral Resources has entered into a Land Use Agreement (LUA) with the Marlinyu Ghoorlie Native Title Claimant Group.
The recently purchased Spargoville tenements, located 70km south of Kalgoorlie, are also included by the agreement, which was signed by Mandilla Gold, a subsidiary of Astral. It creates guidelines for clearance processes to support mining operations, historical surveys, and the preservation of designated sites.
Following a prior agreement with the Marlinyu Ghoorlie over important Feysville tenements in October 2025, all tenements included in the ongoing Mandilla Definitive Feasibility Study (DFS) are now covered by LUAs.
“With this Land Use Agreement providing a clear framework to protect Aboriginal Cultural Heritage and formalize Marlinyu Ghoorlie’s participation in the development of the Mandilla Project, Astral is delighted to have further cemented its strong and collaborative relationship with the Marlinyu Ghoorlie People,” stated Marc Ducler, managing director of Astral.
“Astral is committed to continuing to work closely with the Marlinyu Ghoorlie and maintaining a close and collaborative relationship with all stakeholders as it sets its sights on finalizing the Mandilla DFS, obtaining the necessary mine development approvals, and transitioning into mine development.”
Astral and the Marlinyu Ghoorlie will operate within a framework that addresses partnership, cooperation, and reconciliation under the LUA.
In addition to giving Marlinyu Ghoorlie People opportunities to participate in Mandilla’s operations and compensation benefits for the impact on native title from project rights and future mining and exploration activities, the agreement aims to minimize the impact of Astral’s activities on heritage sites.
The March quarter of 2027 is when the Mandilla DFS is expected to be finished.
